In-home Respite Care

In-home respite care provides a valuable service for family carers by allowing them to have a break from their caring role - it allows carers ‘time-out' to enhance their own lives.

Bromilow is an approved provider of respite services through the National Respite for Carers' Program (NRCP) which is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing. The aim of the NRCP is to contribute to the support and maintenance of caring relationships between carers and their dependent family members or friends by facilitating access to respite care and other support appropriate to their individual needs and circumstances, and those of the people for whom they care.

Like all of its services, Bromilow's in-home respite services are very flexible and are available 365 days a year. Respite care may also include support with personal care and household tasks such as cleaning, ironing and shopping or assistance to access community activities and interests.

Services are arranged in full consultation with carers. Services are designed to flexibly and responsively address the variety of diverse needs that carers may have.

The maximum fee for in-home respite care under the NRCP is currently $9.00 per hour (although fees do attract loadings on weekends and public holidays). Inability to afford the full fee does not prevent carers from accessing NRCP services.
